Metered taxi operations suspended

2016-04-21 06:00

WITH recent disputes over rights to ferry passengers by feuding metre taxi associations at Ryder Street in Port Shepstone, the police have upped their presence to ensure that operations remain suspended.

Last week Sizanani Meter Taxi Association operators demanded to take over the stand and that operations should continue. However, SAPS stopped them from doing so as instructed by the Hibiscus Coast Municipality. Sizanani spokesperson Snothi Nyathi said they are awaiting the final word from the municipality on whether they should continue with operations.

Nyathi said the Ryder Street rank will remain closed until the day of the meeting scheduled by the municipality on 26 April.
Sizanani and Sheppy Cabs will not be operating on Ryder Street.
