More to Literary Festival than meets the eye

2016-09-15 06:00

THE second Ramsgate Literary Festival, sponsored by Ugu South Coast Tourism, returns to Ramsgate on 24 September as part of Heritage Day celebrations.

The festival will celebrate all things unique about Ramsgate, including books, art exhibitions, museums, wines and antiques.

“Last year’s inaugural festival was such a success that the Ramsgate Tourism sub-committee decided it should be an annual event and are looking towards growing this into a annual cultural calendar event over Heritage weekend,” said festival organiser, Vicky Wentzel of Wozani Africa Events.

The festival programme consists of 10 guest speakers who will talk on a variety of topics at the Whale Deck in Ramsgate, from 10am to 4pm.

In addition there will also be book sales, cuisine and entertainment.

Ramsgate Stationers will be selling guest authors’ recent publications as well as a selection of local authors’ works.

Festival-goers can expect artisan food stalls, oysters and “bubbly” as well as baked goods.

The Ramsgate Knit Twits will also be in attendance supporting their charity “The Comfort Fund”.

The Literary Festival reinforces solid educational messages in a fun and real way and the founder of the SA Bloggers Association will be presenting.
