IT’S that time of the year again where the red carpet is rolled out and the stars of the show are none other than the municipal employees who went beyond the call of duty in serving the locality all year round.

On Friday, December 7, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality held their annual Mayoral Excellence Awards at the Margate Hotel.

Employees that were rewarded were those who achieved 100% of their set targets and went beyond their minimum requirements.

Long-serving employees were also recognised for their dedication during the awards event. Certificates were issued for employees who had served for 10, 15, 20, 30 and 40 years in the municipality.

RNM mayor Nomusa Mqwebu said that next year the municipality will look at introducing the Batho Pele Award as well as a performance management rollout system for managers, among some other new categories.

“The municipality would like to express a word of appreciation to all the employees for their dedication in serving the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality communities through hard times and strong criticism received from different stakeholders,” said Mqwebu.

“The municipality appreciates the work done by the RNM staff this year and previous years, especially those who have gone the extra mile by working overtime and after hours,” she said.
