Municipality apologises for water ‘inconvenience’

2016-12-08 06:01

IN the past week the community of Gamalakhe experienced water interruptions due to a burst pipe, and the municipality sent out technical staff to attend to the matter, however, the system still needs to recover.

Municipal spokesperson France Zama said technicians have to ensure there is a progressive build-up of the system and therefore they need to shut down the supply every day.

“Our technical teams have engaged in water balancing for the entire area of Gamalakhe by shutting off supply from the reservoir from 9pm to 5am each day.

After the daily shutdowns water is only restored at around 6am each day,” said Zama.

He said this arrangement will continue until the system is fully balanced.

“It must be noted this process usually takes 10 days,” said Zama

He said the municipality also provided water trucks during this time.

Zama said the municipality apologises to customers affected by this temporary inconvenience.
