Municipality dispels water-supply misconceptions

2015-11-11 06:00

THIS serves to dispel widely spread misconceptions that suggest the municipality is intending stop the water supply to our communities as a result of the salt content in the water.

This is false and we warn our communities against certain elements within our society which thrive on peddling false information during a crisis situation in order to take advantage of the plight of our communities while imposing their relevance.

The municipality will continue making efforts to supply water to our communities, despite the drought challenges we are experiencing in the areas that fall under the Hibiscus Coast Municipality.

Communities are urged to be vigilant against the mushrooming of unauthorised sources of information which distribute innuendos about our stance as the municipality towards the disaster situation that has fallen upon us.

We will continue with the supply of water to areas within Hibiscus Coast as per our mandate as the water services authority demands of us.

We will not be deterred by any elements in meeting this constitutional obligation of continuously providing water to our communities despite the challenges we face.

It is our view, as the municipality, that water is life and as a caring water services authority we again appeal to communities to heed to our call of adjusting their consumption patterns.

This drought requires all of us to work together in ensuring that we save each and every drop of water as we are faced with this drought catastrophe, which is in no way the creation of man.
