THE muthi killings court case that shook the town of Umzinto was heard in the area’s magistrate’s court on Thursday.

The two men, Thandowakhe Thando Duma and Elias “Maak ’n Plan” Sihle Mchunu appeared briefly and were then remanded to Westville prison.

They are accused of beheading an Umzinto man, Nawaaz Khan, with the intent to perform a muthi ritual.

Mchunu confessed to the SAPS that he had beheaded Khan after a traditional healer asked him to bring him a human head in order to perform a ritual. Mchunu said he had been experiencing some personal problems.

He was also charged with kidnapping in a separate case.

The case will be heard again in the Umzinto Magistrate’s Court on 4 February. - Supplied.
