New challenges for Eland Xtreme Enduro

2016-02-18 06:00

THE heat is on and according to organisers of the inaugural South Coast Lake Eland Xtreme two track prep rides are already “done and dusted” with support from locals Matt Langton, Ryan Pretorius and Gary Neethling.

“It’s been a pleasure working with these men as they have given their time to put on an event of note,” said race director Klint Mills.

Over 200 riders from around South Africa and abroad have confirmed their participation in the event which takes place early in March 2017.

“We are very excited to see this event take place in our magical hinterland. The media buzz around these events is growing significantly – Enduro racing is reported to be one of the fastest growing sports in the world – thus bringing fantastic added exposure to our piece of paradise.

“We look forward to seeing this race being a huge success and encourage riders and visitors to make a weekend of it.

“Should anyone require information on accommodation or useful facts about the Oribi Gorge and the South Coast, visit www.tourismsouthcoast. or contact any of our seven visitor information centres, whose numbers can be found on the website,” said Justin Mackrory, Ugu South Coast Tourism CEO.

The first 30km of the South Coast Tourism Lake Eland Game Reserve Big5Xtreme is officially complete.

According to Mills, the track starts off with a well groomed 4x4 track down to the bottom of the valley, followed by a climb up a short treat to the top of “KakAss”.

From there riders will experience a drop to “Red Rock, which is short, but highly technical.
