THE Margate police station has a new station commander who started work yesterday. Brigadier William Slabbert received the news of his promotion last Friday from the acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.

SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said Slabbert was station commander of Margate from 2000 to 2007 and then took up a post as Visible Policing commander at Port Shepstone police station until 2017. “Brigadier Slabbert has vast experience in this field. He will be serving under the Ugu cluster commander, Major General Sethenya Nxamagele.

“Brigadier Slabbert is excited to go back to his previous station which he knows well. Many of the police officers who are stationed there are equally thrilled to serve under his command once more,” said Wiid. – Supplied.
