Nursery school teacher’s ‘other life’ is scary

2016-06-09 06:00

I WENT with a friend of mine to fetch her little one at a nursery school in Shelly Beach. When I saw the child’s teacher and carer I went ice cold.

The lady helping the child looked very familiar and I instantly remembered where I had seen her before.

Some things you never forget. I went to the hairdresser in Manaba a few months ago and on the pavement was a lady – drunk, drugged, what does it matter? She was out of her mind, falling around, shouting and screaming. A security guard tried to calm her down, tried to be nice, but eventually had to use brutal force to get her on her way. I was told that her girlfriend worked nearby and that this was common behaviour.

On a second occasion, I saw the same woman sitting on the pavement with some men, smoking something which did not look or smell like a cigarette. I remembered her face from the previous encounter, but the main attraction to this group on the pavement was the fact that the woman was only wearing a see-through nightdress having the time of her life.

Being shocked, I told a friend who lived nearby. She said that drugs were playing a major role in the area and that fighting occurs regularly.

And there she was again … a little boy’s teacher. How is this possible? Should one not do a background check on who takes care of your child during the day? It is scary, very scary.
