OFF-DUTY policeman, Warrant Officer Sydney Seaton from Port Shepstone SAPS, did not hesitate to answer the call of duty when requested to do so by community members on Wednesday.

Seaton was enjoying family time when he received a call at 11am about suspects, who were seen jumping over a wall of premises in Jackson Street in Shelley Beach.

Without thinking twice he rushed to the address in his vehicle and was just in time to see the suspects, of whom a description had been given, about to get into a blue VW Golf, the probable get-away vehicle.

Seaton then arrested all three and found two knives and cellphones in the vehicle.

At the same time two cases of attempted burglary were reported to police in Jackson Street.

In one case a 30-year-old woman was at home at 11am when she heard a noise.

“When she investigated, she found two men [suspects] shaking the sliding door. When she called her husband, they ran away,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

In the other case a 44-year-old woman received a report of two men who were seen on the roof of her home.

“When they responded, the two suspects jumped off the roof and ran away,” said Wiid.

The three men, aged 19, 20 and 40, are in custody and are due to appear in court soon. - Supplied.
