AS part of Older Persons Week, normally observed from to 30 September to 5 October, Mbango Valley Association (MVA) launched the week last Friday.

Guests at the event included Nedbank staff and ward councillor Doug Rawlins, who spoke to the elderly advising them about banking, new developments and communication channels with their new councillor.

Michelle Harris from Nedbank spoke about how they can make banking easy and how not to fall prey to scammers when withdrawing cash from an ATM.

Karen Lehmann from MVA said more activities would be taking place throughout the week, including a performance by the MVA choir and the Creston College marimba band.

MVA members will also play bowls against the Ramsgate Retirement Village residents.

She said the aim of observing Older Persons Week is to give back to the elderly as they are valued and have a wealth of wisdom to share.
