ONE person died, three were critically injured and 20 people sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious in an accident in Murchison on Sunday afternoon.

“Reports from the scene indicate that a taxi and a bakkie collided, the bakkie then veered off the road and collided with the concrete barriers,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha.

“SAPS is investigating the cause of the accident.”

Paramedics from various services also arrived at the scene and found the roadway obstructed with accident debris and the twisted frames of the vehicles.

Paramedics stabilised the injured at the scene before they transported them to various hospitals.
