RH: Gamalakhe Clinic on 3 May, 1989.

EE: What childhood memories do you have?

RH: I was brought up in the church and some of my earliest childhood memories were singing in the church choir in my Sunday “best” and dressing up was one of my highlights of going to church.

EE: Where do you live?

RH: Durban, Mayville

EE: Where did you study?

RH: I started at Siyakhula-Hlanganani Primary School, and later moved to Marburg Primary School. I matriculated at Marburg Secondary and went to varsity at AAA School of Advertising in Johannesburg

EE: Tell me a bit about your family.

RH: I’m an only child raised by my mother, with the help of my fashionable grandmother. I’m one of 15 grandchildren. I come from a very complex family, who love church and food.

EE: What drove you to becoming a designer?

RH: My peculiar and meticulous eye for fashion and mainly because some fashion styles are not available to everyone and are not made for every size. I have a passion for looking good, because looking good makes me feel good.

EE: Tell me about Rebel of Zion

RH: Rebel of Zion is a brand formed by a group of young individuals with the same passion for style that is fashionable, trendy and classy. We produce limited lines, suitable for everyday use and exclusivity. For years, we have been a male fashion brand. We saw the opportunity to grow our brand by adding a female member, which is where I come in to launch a first Roz female line of clothing. Our brand caters for the working class, from the age of 25 up and focuses on casual and formal wear. Whatever your needs are, we cater for them.

EE: Who inspires you?

RH: Kanye West.

EE: Describe yourself in one word.

RH: Rebel.

EE: What message do you have for youth?

RH: Stay in school and stay true to who you are. Never do things to impress others because not everyone values you as you may think. Never give up your dream and never ever try taking short cuts to get to your dream.
