THE children of Sithandizwe Non Profit Organisation, an orphanage in Manz’amhlophe area, near Margate were treated to a visit to the Australian Aqua Circus which is being held at the Southcoast Mall.

The children received complimentary tickets after their fundraiser, Susan Farrell, visited the mall and approached the circus tour manager, Donna Sousa, for tickets..

“I noticed that the Australian Aqua Circus had come to town and decided to ask the management of the circus for complimentary tickets to give ten critically underprivileged orphans a night out, that they would never forget. Sousa did not hesitate and asked me to bring the children to the circus last Thursday evening.

When we arrived, Sousa took charge of the children and introduced them to face painting crew where they got to choose their own styles and the results were amazing,” said Farrell.

She said the children were starstruck when they entered the “big top” where they sat gazing in awe at the spectacle before them.

Farrell said : “Sister Redemptor, the caregiver of Sithandisizwe was just as enthralled as the children. The show began and the little one’s faces were mesmerised. Acrobatics, swings and clowns were the order of the day.”

“During interval Sousa and team spoiled the kids with popcorn before the second half.

“The second half was even more stunning than the first and the acts, which utilised water features, left us gasping in amazement. One cannot adequately describe the spectacle of a circus, one must experience it for oneself. The children were invited to meet the cast after the show for a photo opportunity and they were happy and privileged to do so,” she added.

Farrell said she would like to thank the management, crew and everyone involved in making this magical night a dream come true for the children.

“The night will stay in their memories, it raised them out of their difficult circumstances into a world of possibility for a brighter future.”
