AUDITIONS for the Face of Port Shepstone beauty pageant have been finalised and with a duration of only two days, founder and organiser Phumlani Mzobe said he is pleased with the outcome. The castings were held in various areas recently and the turnout was “amazing”, he said.“Having two dates for the auditions only meant more competitors, a bigger production and a promising massive show,”said Mzobe.Sixty eight models participated in the first casting and Mzobe said each model was talented. He said that due to the massive crowds, a second round of auditions is needed. “Over 100 entries covering all categories: women, teenagers, young adults, men and plus size, came to showcase their talent. We are also excited with the entries for the plus-size category, as our initial purpose for this category is to change the attitude and landscape of defining beauty. “We do not define beauty in terms of size or skin colour. This competition promotes a different idea that says beauty comes from within.”Contestants came from Bizana, Gamalakhe, Margate, KwaNzimakwe, Gcilima, Murchison, Mthwalume, Mzinto and from as far away as iXopo, all personally motivated and hungry for the crown. Mzobe and his team thanked everyone who took time and showed an interest in the event. He also extended his appreciation to the parents and guardians for allowing their children to enter. “The nature of this competition itself requires a lot of dedication and we need the parents’ support.“The next step is the boot camp, starting on March 24.”Mzobe said the contestants will be trained and taught about fitness, beauty and lifestyle, and how to walk on the ramp. He encouraged aspirant models who never got the chance to audition to join the boot camp. “Professionals will be invited by the organisation for the boot camp and we hope everyone will be there as it is compulsory. “Afterwards, the finalists in the competition will be announced. A photo shoot will also be held on the day and it is vital for everyone to attend.”For more information, contact Lungile Mkhize at 062 311 9020 or Noxolo Mthethwa at 076 200 8064.
