Palm Beach floating body still unidentified

THE body that was found floating at Palm Beach last Wednesday has not been identified.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid said investigations continue and a postmortem will be done.

The body was discovered by a fishermen on a private deep-sea fishing boat, who saw the body drifting offshore near Palm Beach, and called the police.

“Police divers and a NSRI boat and crew went out to sea and the body was retrieved.

“The body was then transported to the state morgue for investigation and an inquest docket was opened at Port Edward SAPS,” said Wiid.

She said only after the postmortem will they be able to determine how long the body had been in the water and, hopefully, identify it.
