Pensioner robbed in Marburg

2015-11-11 06:01

A 61-YEAR-OLD man was robbed at his home in Lions Grove, Marburg on Monday.

The four robbers asked the man for water and pushed him inside the house.

They then assaulted him on the face with a brick and tied him up with an electrical cable.

“He sustained swollen lips and bruises on his arms. They also put something over his face while they ransacked the house,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

The men fled with numerous items.

The victim only managed to free himself after an hour and called for help at 7pm.

“Apparently the same four suspects came to the house earlier and asked for water. Residents, and especially vulnerable people such as the elderly, must be extremely careful not to open doors for anyone unknown to them,” said Wiid.
