UGU Cluster Commander, Major-General Agnes Nxamagele has encouraged members within the Cluster to participate in sport with the aim of being healthy.
This comes after Captain Vinesh Maharaj of Ugu Cluster (Port Shepstone) took part in the SAPS National Tennis Championships in Bloemfontein from 27 June to 1 July.
Nxamagele said regular exercise is healthy for the mind.
“A healthy body equals a healthy mind. Regular exercise improves all-round fitness and improves the body’s ability to resist illness and disease. A positive spin-off of this is that members’ lives are improved and the sick leave rate drops.”
Maharaj was selected for the KZN provincial team for this event.
Tennis players from the nine provinces and SAPS head office played singles, double and mixed doubles.
The KZN team bagged one gold for doubles and two bronze for single females and single males. Management and Ugu Cluster members congratulate the team for their wins.
