THE Margate Poetry Sessions will be hosting a special Youth Day session tonight.

The sessions which are held at One Eyed Jacks every second Thursday provide a platform for local artists to showcase their work as well as to offer the Margate community an alternate form of entertainment on a Thursday evening.

Organiser Kevin Dladla said they would also be having a hike on Saturday to commemorate Youth Day.

“It’s important that we commemorate Youth Day in order to honour those who came before us and sacrificed for us to have the freedom that we have today.

It’s also important for us to remember that we have the responsibility to uphold the freedom. We need to continue to strive for a better South Africa, the type of South Africa that people died for us to realise,” said Dladla.

The Youth Day poetry sessions will be held at 7 pm tonight at One Eyed Jacks.
