THE Fever reported an incident two weeks ago where a Margate constable, Manqoba Zulu was attacked by a group of men, who he had gotten into an argument with. Zulu was critically injured and was admitted to St Augustine Hospital in Durban.

Last week the Fever reported that a suspect, Mpume Mbono (36), had been arrested in connection with the incident. Mbono appeared at Ramsgate Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 19 January.

He was denied bail and investigations are continuing.

Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said Mbono will be appearing again on 1 March.

“Zulu is still in hospital, there are no further development and he remains in ICU,” said Mfeka.
