BEAR, the police search and rescue dog and his handler, Warrant Officer Rommel da Rosa, visited a pre-school in the Izotsha last Thursday.

Whole Da Rosa was telling the children a story about a boy who went missing in a forest, Bear sprang into action and searched and located one of the “missing girls” who was hiding behind a tree on the school premises.

The children were especially warned about stranger danger, walking alone and the dangers of swimming without supervision of an adult.

It is important to remember that there is no waiting period in South Africa when someone goes missing - it must be reported to the police immediately.

With the summer holidays on hand, children should be kept under constant supervision at all times. Parents must ensure they know where their children are at all times.
