LIEUTENANT-COLONEL Marina Thorne from the Port Shepstone Police Station has booked herself a place in the SAPS Mountain Bike national team after winning gold in the prologue, cross-country and hill climb categories and silver­ in the 58km marathon.

The mountain bike championships were held in Potchefstroom from August 27 to September 1.

All nine provinces participated and Thorne was part of KwaZulu-Natal provincial team.

Ugu cluster commander, Major-General Sethenya­ Nxamagele congratulated Thorne on her achievement.

“We are proud of Colonel Thorne’s successes in the championships. Not only has she done KZN proud, but the Ugu cluster as well.

“The medals are well-deserved and we wish her well in all her future endeavours.” said Nxamagele. - Supplied.
