“UTHANDO Nesithembu” family, headed by local businessperson and author Musa Mselekhu of Kwamadlala in Umzumbe, launched a clothing line called Thanx Ma, last Thursday on Mzansi Magic, as the run-up to an Uthando neSthembu episode.

Mseleku announced a partnership in December 2017 with His Place Boutique to have his range sold at the shop. In an interview on how he initiated the name Thanx Ma — which is also on the personalised number plates for his and his wives’ cars — Mseleku shared the full story.

“The message behind the Thanx Ma line involves the pain and struggle I endured when I had to take care of my sickly mother,” said Mseleku.

He said before his mother died she promised him that he would never struggle again in his life and ever since she uttered those words to him, blessings were bestowed upon him.

Clothing line manager Alison van der Merwe said the clothes are available online at www.thanxma.com or www.thanxma.co.za

“The range caters for men, women and children, and has a ‘fun’ message to our mothers in South Africa — that we love them and want to give thanks for making a difference out there,” she said.

Van der Merwe said Mseleku is running a contest on thanxma.com where people can win limited edition T-shirts, personally signed by the each of the adult members of the family.

She said a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund, which is the organisation of Mseleku’s choice that they wish to support. The draw will take place on July 1.She said the family thanks the community of South Coast for its support.
