AFTER a great year, the Slo Coast Pool League held their year-end function and prize giving on Wednesday, November 28 at Buccaneers Beach Bar and Grill. Eight teams from various pubs in the area were involved in the Pool League this year, including Buccaneers, Cove, Car Wash, Renegades, Coyotes, Tipsy Turtle, and Smokey Joes.

Willem Nieuwenhuis, owner of Specsavers Shelly Beach, generously provided a dedicated floating trophy and a R5 000 cash prize to be awarded for first place on an annual basis. The champions of the 2018 Slo Coast Pool League were Attie Horn (Cove owner) and his team.

Eben van Eeden of Buccaneers generously awarded the team in second place with a R2 500 cash prize.

The player with the highest individual score for the year was Keegan Ray, who won a unique pool cue and case, donated by the Pool League.

The honour of the title “Most Spirited Team” went to Buccaneers 2.

Thanks to Ferro van Greunen, chairman of the Pool League, and Chantal van Niekerk, the secretary, for their efficiency in running the league throughout the year.

Van Greunen extended his congratulations to all the prize winners, and has thanked all those involved in keeping the league so successful. He would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

The teams are excited to start the 2019 Slo Coast Pool League competition early next year, and look forward to the continued support of all the pub owners.
