THE Maha Vishnu Temple is hosting its Mother Saraswati Prayer on Friday, September 29, at 6.30pm.All Hindus are invited to observe. The Goddess Saraswati is often depicted as a beautiful woman dressed in pure white. She is often seated on a white lotus which symbolises light, knowledge and truth. She embodies knowledge and the experience of the highest reality. Her iconography is typically in white themes from dress to flowers to swan - the colour symbolising Sattwa Guna or purity, discrimination for true knowledge, insight and wisdom.Parents are urged to bring their children along. The prayer will conclude with the tying of three-coloured string (red, white and green) after which prasadh and supper will be served.
