REPAIRS to the Margate swimming pool are under way said Ray Nkonyeni Municipality Mayor Cllr Nomusa Mqwebu.

Speaking at a media briefing at the municipality on Tuesday
Mqwebu said the municipality can confirm that funds for repairs to the swimming pool were available and construction has started.

“The municipality has set aside R800 000 in order to address these leaks challenges, however, the
engineer will subsequently do the designs and then proceed with the actual construction thereafter,” said Mqwebu.

The public swimming pool, which is a popular spot, has been closed for about a year and RNM
received widespread criticism after announcing that the pool would
not be open for holidaymakers
over the December peak season last year.

Mqwebu said work on the pool should be completed in time for this year’s summer holidays.
