RNM releases mid-year review

2017-02-16 06:01

ACCORDING to a recent mid-year budget and performance assessment review, Ray Nkonyeni Municipality (RNM) has maintained a stable performance in terms of set targets and goals for this financial year.

RNM spokesperson Simon April said the self-assessment process has shown that the municipality has reached the 91% mark, which he said is consistent with the level of performance obtained during the same period in the past financial year.

“This review includes among other issues the usefulness and credibility of performance information for purposes of reporting on predetermined performance objectives and compliance with key legislation governing financial matters,” said April.

He added that the municipality is of the view that this review will create a positive image to stakeholders, tourists and the general public. “This will motivate the staff to comply further with key legislation governing financial matters. This also confirms the fact that there has been improvement in the governance of the municipality and meeting key deliverables,” said.

At the recent Back to Basic Awards, RNM was awarded for having the best key performance area in its integrated development plan (IDP) with regards to good governance and public participation.

Hibiscus Coast and Ezinqoleni also recently received a clean audit report from the Auditor-General who pointed out a number of issues that need to be worked on, including a lack of a road infrastructure policy, invalid reconciliations on bank statements and incorrect treatment of the housing subsidy grant.
