ROUND TABLERS from all corners of southern Africa descended on Margate last week to attend the Round Table Southern Africa annual general meeting at Margate Hotel.

Activities started on Thursday and lasted the weekend, culminating in the induction of the new president, Rupert Niebuhr, who took over from Spidey Knepscheld.

Past president and convener of the AGM, Leon Garbarde, said it was an honour to be this year’s convener and host fellow Tablers, who came from as far as Namibia.

“Business and the town of Margate have been very supportive. They offered us certain discounts and we are truly grateful for that,” said Garbarde.

There are 143 active Tables with 1 115 Tablers, of which 650 came to Margate.
