Sa Ri Ga Ma Music School to launch CD

2018-02-08 06:01

SATMA Award winner Vernon Govender, a Sa Ri Ga Ma Music School teacher and traditional musician, has announced that his students will be launching a CD soon.

Govender said the launch will be held at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on a date soon to be announced.

He said that recording a devotional CD has always been his life-long dream. “Every teacher or mentor always dream of doing what is best for his students and therefore the CD launch of the Sa Ri Ga Ma music school will mean a lot to my students.

“The students have worked hard, practising devotional songs in Hindi, Tamil and Telegu in preparation for the recording of their first devotional CD in dedication to Mother Saraswathie, Goddess of Knowledge and Music.

“We recorded successfully at a Durban studio with Ashley Kisten of the Luxmi Stars band and will be launching soon,” said Govender.

A total of 21 students were part of the recording and all of them are under 15 years old.

Govender said that on the day of the launch, the guest speakers will be MEC for Human Settlements Ravi Pillay, SA’s Got Talent’s Fazlyn Naidoo and the Consulate General of India, Dr Shashank Vikram.

He said that a lot of decision-making and planning for the day is taking place, however, he can be contacted for more information at 074 676 9424 or phone Pravashnie Rajagopal at 072 142 8950.
