POLICE administration clerks, Sherwyn Pillay and Danesh Naicker­ saved the day for a local woman.

They were driving in Marburg on Friday, when they a woman signalled them to stop.

She said she was waiting for a taxi to Murchison when she a man walked past her.

He then came back with another man a while later and withdrew a knife, demanding money and a cellphone, which they took from her and fled. “A description of the suspects was given to Pillay and Naicker, who looked for the suspects and soon spotted the one and gave chase,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

He was arrested with the cellphone and money in his possession.

“The clerks recovered the stolen items and the knife he used to commit the robbery,” said Wiid.

The 33-year-old man was charged for robbery and appeared in Port Shepstone Court on Monday.

The case was remanded for seven days for bail application and he remains in custody.
