ALBERT Njakazi’s (65) journey as a SAPS handyman comes to an end tomorrow after 35 years.

He started his career at the Port Shepstone Police Station in 1982 when the auxiliary garage was on the premises. His duties included the inspection of vehicle tyres taking an inventory of all parts and tools when vehicles were booked in for repairs.

He later moved to the Izotsha premises after the garage was relocated.

He is the father of two adult boys and a girl, however, his wife died in 2013.

Njakazi said he will pursue his favourite pastime which is gardening at his home in Umtwalume.

He said he will miss the friendly company and regular coffee breaks and chatter with the staff at Port Shepstone SAPS garage. - Supplied.
