SELBORNE Golf Club will be hosting a number of events this festive season. Still to come is a monthly Par 3 Challenge which is a competition that originated this year where golfers are given the opportunity to play a quicker round of golf on a familiar course but in a different format. The challenge will be held on Friday, 23 December from 12.30pm.

Cara Giraudeau, public relations manager at Media Olivia Jones said this challenge will follow both individual and betterball stableford formats with the top-six best balls counted, per player, out of 12 rounds played.

“The following day will be Selborne’s Christmas Eve lunch with seating from 12pm to 2.30pm. It will be a buffet-style feast held at the Selborne Clubhouse,” she said.

Giraudeau said the cost is R200 per person and numbers are limited and urged those who are interested to book before the day.

Selborne Golf Club will also host a New Year’s Eve bash, which will also incorporate a golf competition to be played in a Texas scramble format.

The format is more fun and each player hits a tee shot-on. The best ball, as determined by the captain, is selected for the second shot, each member of the team hits his or her shot from that spot. The process continues until the hole is played out.
