THE Port Shepstone Regional Hospital hosted a wellness event at St Martin De Porres School grounds last Friday for its staff and other government institution people.

Organised by the hospital’s wellness committee, Port Shepstone Regional Hospital spokesperson Phumza Morai said the aim of the event was to help improve their overall physical and mental well-being.

“It started off with a walk from the hospital to the school grounds where our hospital acting CEO, Dr Babusisiwe Dlamini, welcomed and thanked everyone for their presence and participation. In her opening remarks, she outlined the purpose of the day and thanked the sponsors for their contribution,” said Morai.

Other institutions that took part were St Andrews Hospital, Dunstan Farrell Hospital, Ugu Health District, Port Shepstone SAPS and St Martins De Porres pupils.

Activities included tae bo, egg race, volley ball, netball, soccer, tug o’ war, umlabalaba, chess and three-legged race.

“Even though this day was not about winning, the Port Shepstone Regional Hospital volleyball team came first, followed by St Andrews Hospital.

Umlabalaba champion was Boxer Ntusi of St Andrews Hospital. Dr Dlamini, won the chess competition. We are proud of our soccer team who played two games and beat SAPS, and Dustan Farrell,” said Morai.
