RESIDENTS have raised concerns about the Umtentweni Clinic, where they say they received poor-to-no service at all at the clinic on Sunday. Laura Schlebusch said she took her 77-year-old mother to the clinic but was disappointed when they were turned away unassisted. She said the four staff members that were present seemed “half asleep”. “There was no one else there, the staff were half asleep and told us to come back in two hours or later in the afternoon because they had just washed the floors,” she said. Schlebusch stressed that it was a hassle to get her elderly mother to the area in the first place and therefore it was unfair of the clinic to expect them to just leave unattended. Operations manager at the clinic Eugenia Thokozani Tshabalala said the clinic will investigate the incident and urged residents who encountered issues at the clinic to speak to her directly or write a formal complaint and place it in the suggestion box at the clinic. Tshabalala further said that the clinic was closed on Tuesday due to a memorial service that all the staff attended. She said an apology was extended to the public prior to the day in this regard.
