THE South Coast Fever published a press release from Margate SAPS communications department titled “Six arrested with links to hijacking”.The story was about six suspects, three males aged 23, 20 and 30 and three females aged 23, 19 and 23, who were arrested after being found in a stolen Toyota Corolla that went missing in Ezinqoleni and was found in Port St John’s.The Corolla belonged to a 41-year-old woman, Zobanini Jabulani, who used the vehicle to transport school children in Manzamhlophe. Jabulani was reported missing by her family after she failed to return home after taking the children to school two Fridays ago. Her body was found in Braemar in a gumtree plantation near Port Edward a day after she went missing. The six suspects appeared in the Port St John’s Magistrate’s Court last Monday facing a charge of being in possession of a suspected stolen property and on Tuesday they appeared in the Ramsgate Court facing a murder charge. Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said the murder case was remanded by Ramsgate Court for 8 February and the suspects remain in custody. In a statement released by the KZN Media Centre last week, acting KZN commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa said detectives investigating both cases will make sure enough evidence is gathered against them for a successful conviction.
