IT was a proud moment for Cwepheshe Computer Solutions, who put the Ray Nkonyeni Municipality on the map, when they won the Best Newcomer Award at the recent 2016 SmartXchange MICTe SMME Awards Cwepheshe.

The business, which was grown and nurtured by SmartXchange in Port Shepstone, provides network infrastructure management, performance monitoring and network visibility solutions.

The event took place in November at the Coastlands Hotel in Musgrave.

“In his keynote address MEC for Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Sihle Zikalala, expressed his passion for small business development and innovation,” said SmartXchange manager Fatima Sagriat.

“He expressed great delight in recognising the strides being made by the SmartXchange SMME incubator in the sector of MICTe SMME development and innovation,” she added.

Mandisa Tshikwatamba, CEO of Small Enterprise Development Agency (Seda) complimented the MEC’s address by encouraging and commending the private sectors involvement in supporting SMME’s and incubators.

“She further enforced that SmartXchange is indeed one of the most impressively performing Seda funded incubators having received eight awards, both nationally and regionally, since the incubators inception,” said Sagriat.

The winner was awarded an Acer laptop, R10 000 cash, a R30 000 training voucher in web design and a wall clock.
