South Coast development basketball team formed

2015-11-12 06:00

BASKETBALL players from around the South Coast have amalgamated their talent and formed a development team.

The team trains every Monday and Thursday at South City Church. Founder Phil Price, who also assists with sport at Genesis Care Centre, said they decided to form a team as he saw there was a lack of basketball participation on the South Coast compared to other sports.

“We started with five players, then others got interested and from there we just grew. At the moment we have more than 20 players in the team,” said Price.

He said they are still looking for more players because they want to start their own basketball league on the South Coast.

Cedrick Banza, a development team member, said they train children from the age of 10 up until senior level.

Banza said currently they are focusing on post-matric pupils, and invite those who have never played basketball before to join.

For more information, contact Price on 061 163 1479, or Banza on 076 188 7565, or request to be added to the whatsApp group.
