RESIDENTS met at Port Shepstone Secondary School on Sunday in support of the mother of two, Marilyn Rampersad, who is suffering from a rare disease, Idiopathic pulmonary arterial hypertension.

Rampersad said the aim was to highlight her condition and tell how living with the condition has changed her life.

Rampersad is an ambassador for Organ Donor Foundation of South Africa, a national NPO that was founded in 1988 to address the critical shortage of organ and tissue donors in South Africa through awareness and education campaigns.

The programme at the school included electing a committee for the Marilyn Medical Fund Foundation and launching their “sponsor book” that will be used to collect funds for her transplant.

“Whoever is interested in donating to the foundation can get a copy of the sponsor book from Ravi Lautan and Associates at 32 Reynolds Street, Albersville, Port Shepstone or call them on 039 682 1450.”

Rampersad thanked the programme director Kenny Naidoo and Bupendra Prakash for launching the sponsor book.

For more information, contact Rampersad on 062 778 9010.
