PUPILS of St Martin de Porres Comprehensive School received stationery from a St John’s DSG School in Pietermaritzburg pupil.

The Grade 9 pupil, Payton Kilgour, visited St Martins recently with the stationery and distributed it to the pupils.

Taskeen Ameer of St Martins said Payton had contacted them asking if she could hold a stationery drive.

“Payton said the reason she started the stationery drive was to give back to the community,” said Ameer.

Payton chose St Martins because the Kilgour family’s domestic worker’s daughter attends the school and she decided it would be for a worthy cause.

Ameer said Payton did research and worked out how much money she would need and what to order for each grade.

“Payton said the bulk of the money came from money raised from one of her school projects, the rest came out of her own pocket. It was done in two days,” she said.

“We are grateful that Payton chose our school to conduct this stationery drive. She has done an amazing job and we really appreciate it.”
