WHEN police noticed a susupicion looking vehicle on Sunday night, moving at the speed of light, they knew something was wrong.

Sergeant Rudi Smith and Constable “SP” Mpisane from Port Shepstone 10111 response unit were on duty, and gave chase.

Upon checking the registration number of the vehicle, Smith established that the car had been reported stolen on Friday night in Umtentweni.

He chased after the car which then left the main road at Hibberdene and disappeared into bushes near the beach.

“The officers found the vehicle had crashed and the occupants of the vehicle had run away. Inside the car various equipment, an angle grinder, a drill and an electric saw, were found,” said police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.

Port Shepstone police is investigating a theft of motor vehicle case. The vehicle was handed into the police pound for further investigation.

“The electrical equipment was also handed in and investigations are being conducted to establish who the owner of the tools is,” she said

The cluster commander of Ugu cluster, Major-General Sethenye Nxamagele, commended the two members for their alertness, which prevented the culprits from committing further crimes with the stolen vehicle. - Supplied.
