Strict booking regulations at hospital OPD

PATIENTS at Port Shepstone Hospital are reminded of the strict booking system at the hospital’s outpatient department (OPD)

The hospital said on Monday that the hospital would not be accepting any patients without a referral letter and booking with a reference number written on their blue cards by OPD clerk. Also should a patient miss an appointment they would have to re-book.

Hospital PRO Phumza Morai asked patients to take heed of these strict regulations telling them not to miss appointments in order to avoid delays.

“Port Shepstone Hospital is the only hospital in Ugu District that is placed at the second level of care.

“A hospital at this level provides specialist support to district hospitals, community health-care centres, and primary health-care clinics. This, therefore, means that it treats only patients who have been referred to it,” said Morai.

“Very sick patients in wheelchairs and elderly people are prioritised based on their health condition. Those who jump into wheelchairs, who are not very sick will not be prioritised,” said Morai. - Supplied.
