SOUTH Coast Strider runner Immanuel Mofumadi finished the 68km ultra-marathon in 8m:24s at Orient Beach last Sunday.

The race was organised to celebrate Heritage Day by honouring heroes.

Mafumadi, who lives in Gamalakhe, said this year’s marathon was celebrated by top athletes from all over the county, including the 2017 Comrades Marathon winner, Bongumusa Mthembu.

He said being part of the race has booked him a place in Two Oceans and Comrades since it is considered a long-run training and a qualifier for them.

“I believe I have booked myself for these two marathons and this was training for me,” he said

He believes that training hard will make him one of the top athletes in the province and South Africa.
