HARBOUR View Super Spar has committed to donating fruit and vegetable hampers to Cansa South Coast for patients under its care.

Spar administration manager, who will co-ordinate the donations, Taryn Milligan, said after talking to Sesethu Senene from Cansa she realised that patients have difficulty in following their recommended diet.

“Harbour View Super Spar has committed to giving fresh produce hampers every month to Cansa South Coast, and when chatting to Sesethu, it became evident that many cancer sufferers cannot afford the special diet they are required to follow,” said Milligan.

She said patients have to follow a diet which includes fresh fruit and vegetables.

“It was then we offered to assist with the hampers every month.

“We will continue to give these donations to Cansa indefinitely and will hopefully be able to increase our hamper quantity as time goes on.”

Spar is committed to uplifting and assisting local communities she said.

Senene said Cansa is grateful for the commitment.

“We are very thankful for the support Harbour View Super Spar par is giving us. These donations go a long way in helping patients receive much-needed nutrients for their bodies when taking medication.”

In many cases she said, some of these items are luxuries that families cannot afford so the donations will play a big role in the health of patients.
