A COUPLE of days ago, I went to a bakery in Marburg where I was lucky enough to see a master at work. One of Ugu’s drivers was on his cellphone while attempting to park his van in front of the bakery.

He parked so badly that anyone who parked next to him would not be able to get out of their car. I made him aware of the fact that he was being selfish. Only then did he decide to move his car and park it correctly.

A suggestion to Ugu — if your staff need to use their cellphones, please provide them with hands-free equipment. They are endangering the lives of others. In fact, I have had many instances with Ugu drivers doing their own thing on the road. The other day, one Ugu driver was not in a turning lane but turned anyway, making everyone else stop for her. Had the other drivers not been alert, there would have been an accident.

Port Shepstone

LISTENING to Julius Malema on the various news bulletins celebrating Human Rights Day by advocating everything that’s against the very human rights that ANC cadres (and others) have fought for all their lives, one thing became crystal clear: he has lost the plot. I cannot recall ever seeing a politician ranting and raving so openly as he did, against any human race.

On Human Rights Day, all dignified human beings should have asked the following question: is there any white farmer (at whom his drivel was aimed) in our democratic SA who does not have the right to be here? On the basis of that answer, the government should either take Malema to task, or applaud him.
