THE Zamukukhanya Taxi Association launched a community development project to reach out and give back to the community by donating to those less privileged.

The event was held at the Maveshe community hall in Murchison last Thursday.

Commuters and community members were given lunch and were entertained.

The association recently gave school uniforms to 80 children per school in Murchison and Bhobhoyi.

Mabhutana Sikhosana, chairperson of the association, said this was to thank the community for their support.

“The community is our priority and we will continue with our projects to help children and families in need.

“We want to stop the mindset which says that taxi owners and drivers are ‘good for nothing’.

“People must realise we care, love and appreciate them.

“We also take pride in the services we render to them,” said Sikhosana.

He invited business people from the area to join the association to develop the community and said people can visit their offices if there are issues they are unhappy with.
