THE Gamalakhe taxi rank ablution facility is in such a bad state that commuters and taxi drivers have to relieve themselves behind the building.

The question is whose responsibility is it to take care and maintain it - the municipality or Gamalakhe Taxi Association.

The Fever contacted the association and learnt that the facility is the responsibility of the municipality, and said they have reported the state of the toilets to the municipality.

Municipal spokesperson Simon April said the municipality will see to the revamping of them and once that has been done they will hold talks with the Gamalakhe Taxi Association and ask it to take over the maintenance of them.

“The municipality constructed the facility, therefore we are responsible for its maintenance and we will follow the same route we did with the other toilets in our CBDs. We will revamp and then communicate with the association about a plan on how they can keep the toilets in a satisfactory state,” said April.
