Teenager drowns in Umzimkhulu River

PORT Shepstone SAPS Search and Rescue members attended to a drowning in Ixopo on Thursday.

It was reported that a 15-year-old boy, fishing in the Umzimkhulu River, got into difficulty and drowned.

Warrant Officer Marc Wiid and Warrant Officer Rommel da Rosa started searching the waters and the body of the child was eventually retrieved from the depths.

An inquest docket has been opened. Official identification must still be done.
