Thanks to unsung ‘water’ heroes

2015-11-11 06:00

IT is said that in times of crisis, people show their true colours, be they good or bad. How true this resonated with a community plunged into the harrowing experience of having no fresh water from our taps since Saturday.

There have been lots of reports on social media and via the South Coast grapevine (love it or hate it, people talk) about the people and places that made money hand over fist selling much-needed bottled water – but what about the unsung heroes - the people, who in their own little towns, did what they could for their fellow man.

Here in Port Shepstone, we were truly blessed to have our heroes in the form of a few businessmen who carted borehole water in a tank to and from a plastic shop and gave water free to the community.

To the gents, I know you did not want to be named but thank you. We know who you are and we will never forget the selflessness and love you showed the people of Sheppie. You are absolute heroes.
