THE South Coast community is invited to the Ugu Theatre Festival on 30 October at Uvongo Town Hall. Entrance is free.

Organiser Bongani Baai of Emuhle­ All Artists said the aim of the festival is to give upcoming theatre performers a platform and an opportunity to perform on a professional stage and also to expose and create a career path for South Coast artists.

Eight groups from Umdoni, Umzumbe, Ray Nkonyeni and Umuziwabantu municipalities will be performing.

“The groups have been attending workshops where they were equipped with production skills which will assist them enhance their careers,” he said.

“On the day we will have a special performance by Mlungisi Mathe, who has been on our TV screens alongside Gamalakhe’s Pretty Ncayiyana as the programme director,” said Baai.
