ENOUGH is enough. This is what Khanya Hospice staff are saying after their Umkomaas offices were targeted by thieves three times last week, stealing copper pipes.

Khanya Hospice CEO Neil MacDonald said this left them without water for days. “This is just not on. In an effort to get to the copper pipes, they just ripped off any pipe they saw,” he said.

The golf course at the back of the offices is used as an escape route because there are bushes to hide in.

“Khanya Hospice serves a huge community and our services are offered for free. We get no government funding and we have to buy whatever we need for patient-care out of our own funding and donations.”

Some of that money earmarked for patients has been used to buy new pipes and pay a plumber. Anyone wanting to contact hospice to make any donation can email hospice@ or call 083 597 8985.
